Outline and Treatment

In this tutorial from the excellent AFI ScreenNation series, the original ideas are fleshed out into a script summary, or outline. Elements of the outline become scenes and actions, and the overall arc of the story can be seen at this stage.

The "treatment" consists of fleshing out the outline element into coherent story points, characters, and settings. Here you examine the logic of your interaction with the audience, and the characters with each other.
